The University Park Airport will conduct a full-scale exercise of its Airport Emergency Plan on Wednesday, May 27, and volunteers are needed to serve as injured passengers. The exercise, which is required by the FAA, will begin at 6:30 p.m., rain or shine.

Several local emergency response agencies, including fire, EMS, police, and other local/state/federal agencies, will participate. A mobile mock aircraft will be on site to simulate various aircraft fire scenarios.

The FAA requires that the exercise have 40-50 volunteers to portray injured passengers.

To make the exercise as realistic as possible for emergency responders, a local EMS organization will “moulage”—apply injury simulation makeup—to the exercise volunteers.

Volunteers need be at the airport at 4 p.m. to have makeup applied, and should be in place by 6:30 p.m., when the exercise begins. The exercise will last for about two hours, and afterwards, all participants are invited to stay for a complimentary meal.
